“Announcing Big Monkey’s next production at the Royal Tasmanian Botanical Gardens!  Once a Jolly Jumbuck is an adaptation of Les Winspear’s original production of Chaos at Cooee Creek.

When drought hits Cooee Creek, the lives of the local animals are thrown into chaos. If they don’t get a fresh supply of water soon they’ll have to leave their beloved home. Matilda the Sheep turns up with a solution and Professor Platypus knows a thing or two but Crow and Brown Snake are lurking, ready to ruin everyone’s plans.

Come and enjoy the fun with Cocky, Bilby and all their friends in this delightful, truly Australian adventure full of laughs and original songs. An original story by Les Winspear.”

THE PERFECT CIRCLE is made up of four separate stories. The first, "Her Real Name" is divided into five parts, and frames the entire piece. A young man, running from a fiance and child in the big city, picks up a teenage female hitch-hiker who proceeds to change his life through her innocence and courage. The second. "Ducks", is a married couple desperately desperately trying to salvage their stagnant relationship. Thirdly is "Opened", where a young waitress is inexplicably drawn to an attractive customer. Finally, in "A Perfect Circle", a man faces up to the mortality of his ageing father, who is hospitalised with a terminal illness.

March

"Keating! The Musical", Old Nick Company, Theatre Royal, 3rd - 6th

Director: Craig Wellington

Musical Director (Cast): Craig Wood

Musical Director (Band): Scott Cashion

Casey Bennetto’s Keating! burst into life at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival in March 2005. The comic genius of the lyrics, the audacity of the conception, the beat and swing of the music sent its sold-out audiences spinning into the night. The production won all available awards at the Festival and the pattern was repeated in a short five night season at the Sydney Opera House in August 2005 followed by sold-out seasons in Adelaide, Brisbane and Darwin in 2006.

Since then Casey has teamed up with Neil Armfield to make his outlandish and biting musical bigger and better than ever and the show has taken Sydney by storm with a nine and a half week sold-out season at Belvoir St Theatre and two sold out seasons at the Seymour Centre.

Casey Bennetto’s scathingly hilarious lyrics tear through the reign and tragic fall of the Placido Domingo of Australian politics. Part French farce, part Greek tragedy, and all Australian history, “the country soul opera we had to have” transports you back to a time less politically grey as it charts the rise, fall and rise again of an antique clock collector from Bankstown.
